John Cooper is the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Candidate for Dumfries & Galloway UK constituency.

He moved through weekly papers, ran his own Edinburgh-based news agency which specialised in court reporting, and worked for many years on the Sunday Mail in Glasgow.

In 2000, John joined the Scottish Daily Mail and went on to Dublin where he helped launch the Irish Daily Mail, before returning as Associate Editor on the Scottish Daily Mail.

In 2019, the opportunity to to be Editor of the Free Press arose and he was delighted to return home to Stranraer, where his parents still live.
